Royalty and Heads of State from around the world have gathered to join the British Royal Family for the spectacular Coronation of King Charles III and Queen Camilla at Westminster Abbey on May 6th, which is the first British Coronation in 70 years. The Ceremony follows the King’s Accession Council in September as well as a Reception for Royalty and Heads of State at Buckingham Palace.

— The Royal Watcher (@saadsalman719) May 6, 2023In the morning, the King and Queen (wearing the Coronation Necklace and Earrings) rode in the King’s Procession to Westminster Abbey in the Diamond Jubilee State Coach, escorted by The Sovereign’s Escort of the Household Cavalry. The King’s Guard turned out in the Forecourt of Buckingham Palace and gave a Royal Salute as The King, the Queen and other Members of the Royal Family departed Buckingham Palace.
The King and Queen’s arrival began with a Procession into Westminster Abbey preceded by various ceremonial offices, including the figures carrying the Coronation Regalia that includes St Edward’s Crown and Queen Mary’s Crown, as they arrived at the Chairs of Estate in the Coronation Theatre, where The King was greeted by the longest serving chorister of His Majesty’s Chapel Royal.

The Service began with the Recognition, in which The King was recognised as the true Monarch, followed by the presentation of the Bible and the Oath, which was followed by the holy Anointing. The Oath included:
I CHARLES do solemnly and sincerely in the presence of God profess, testify, and declare that I am a faithful Protestant, and that I will, according to the true intent of the enactments which secure the Protestant succession to the Throne, uphold and maintain the said enactments to the best of my powers according to law.

The King was then vested with various items of the Coronation Regalia by Peers of various faiths, before being crowned by the Archbishop of Canterbury with St Edward’s Crown, who said as he picked up the Crown:
KING of kings and Lord of lords, bless, we beseech thee, this Crown, and so sanctify thy servant Charles, upon whose head this day thou dost place it for a sign of royal majesty, that he may be crowned with thy gracious favour and filled with abundant grace and all princely virtues; through him who liveth and reigneth supreme over all things, one God, world without end. Amen.

The King was then be Enthroned, with the Prince of Wales paying Homage:
I, William, Prince of Wales, pledge my loyalty to you, and faith and truth I will bear unto you, as your liege man of life and limb. So help me God.
The Archbishop of Canterbury then anointed the Queen and Crowned her with Queen Mary’s Crown, which was followed by a Sermon:
ALMIGHTY God, the fountain of all goodness; hear our prayer this day for thy servant Camilla, whom in thy name, and with all devotion, we consecrate our Queen; make her strong in faith and love, defend her on every side, and guide her in truth and peace; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
MAY thy servant Camilla, who wears this crown, be filled by thine abundant grace and with all princely virtues; reign in her heart, O King of love, that, being certain of thy protection, she may be crowned with thy gracious favour; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen
The King and Queen then processed down the Abbey in a procession followed by members of the Royal Family.
The Coronation Procession had the King and Queen traveling in the Gold State Coach, in a Procession with other members of the Royal Family also in Carriages, and included Armed Forces from across the Commonwealth and the British Overseas Territories, and all Services of the Armed Forces of the United Kingdom, alongside The Sovereign’s Bodyguard and Royal Watermen.
Upon their return to the Palace, the King and Queen received a Royal Salute from the United Kingdom and Commonwealth Armed Forces who were on Parade throughout the day of the Coronation.
The King and Queen were then joined by members of the Royal Family to appear on the Balcony of Buckingham Palace to view the Coronation Flypast over the Mall conducted by the Royal Air Force Aerobatic Team.
