Royal Tiaras- March 2017

Spring heralds the start of State Visit Season, and as all Royal Watchers know, that means glittering state banquets, with heirloom tiaras and stunning jewels sparkling on Royal ladies at the State Banquet. March 2017 did not disappoint in the tiara department, bringing us four banquets with Royal Tiaras from five countries. Icelandic State Visit to Norway

President Guðni Th. Jóhannesson and First Lady Eliza Jean Reid of Iceland are on their first State Visit to Norway from March 21st to 23rd, where they are guests of the Norwegian Royal Family. On Day 1, King Harald and Queen Sonja officially welcomed the Presidential Couple, attended a wreath-laying ceremony, hosted an official luncheon, and accompanied them on engagements throughout the day. In the evening, King Harald gave a gala dinner at the Royal Palace in honour of his guests. Continue reading

Norwegian Royal Tiaras

The Norwegian Royal Family will be hosting President Guðni Th. Jóhannesson of Iceland next week. The programme includes a glittering State Banquet at the Royal Palace of Oslo on the evening of the 21st. In honour of the occasion, and upcoming Norwegian Gala events, we are featuring all the glittering Royal Tiaras worn by the Queen Sonja, Crown Princess Mette Marit, and Princess Astrid. Ranging from Tiaras that are 200 years old to one not yet 20 years old, the Norwegian Royal Tiaras provide a wonderful snapshot of Norway’s history and its close links with its neighbors. Crown Princess Mette-Marit Open Letter about Son

Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway wrote an open letter to the Norwegian Press on the occasion of her son’s, Marius Borg Høiby, 20th Birthday. It has been announced that Marius will move to the United States to study Business Administration as a private person, and will only appear for family occasions but will not perform any duties on behalf of the Norwegian royal family. Norwegian Royal Tiaras 2016

The Norwegian Royal ladies had a nice amount of Tiara appearances this year, starting with the official portraits released for King Harald’s Silver Jubilee in January, and continuing with a Gala dinner for the diplomatic corps in March, outgoing State Visits to Italy and Finland, a banquet during the Singapore State Visit, and a dinner for members of the Norwegian Parliament in October. With the grand 70th Birthday celebrations of King Carl XVI Gustav to the guests at the Albanian Royal Wedding in October, this year has been filled with Royal Tiaras.
