The Norwegian Royal Family celebrated Constitution Day, the National Day of Norway, on May 17th, in a very different manner than their usual celebrations due to the ongoing pandemic. The Day celebrates the signing of the Norwegian Constitution in Eidsvoll on 17 May 1814, which declared Norway to be an independent Kingdom
Today the Scandinavian Crown Princely Couples had an online meeting over zoom, with Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary of Denmark joining in from Frederik VIII’s Palace at Amalienborg in Copenhagen, Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel of Sweden at Haga Palace in Sweden, Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway at Skaugum in Norway. Royal Families around Europe have been commemorating the 75th Anniversary of VE (Victory in Europe) Day, marking the end of the Second World War in Europe. Due to the ongoing pandemic, the celebrations are much changed than what was originally planned but still consisted of a variety of commemorations.
