Spanish State Visit to Japan- Day 2

King Felipe and Queen Letizia of Spain are on a State Visit to Japan from April 4th-7th with the aim of strengthening friendly relations between Japan and Spain. They are based in Tokyo and will also visit Shizuoka. On the morning and throughout most of the afternoon of April 6th, the King and Queen had separate engagements. The joined for bilateral mettings at the Akasaka Palace, and attended a dinner hosted by the Prime Minister of Japan. Spanish State Visit to Japan

Belgian State Visit to Denmark- Day 2

King Philippe and Queen Mathilde of Belgium are on a 3-day State Visit to Denmark, from March 28th to 30th, where they are hosted by the Queen Margrethe of Denmark. On Day 2, King Philippe had a series of engagements with Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark, while Queen Mathilde was joined by Crown Princess Mary. Belgian State Visit to Denmark

King Philippe and Queen Mathilde of Belgium are on a 3-day State Visit to Denmark, from March 28th to 31st, where they are hosted by the Queen Margrethe of Denmark. On Day 1, the King and Queen were welcomed by the Danish Royal Family at the airport, attended the Official Welcome, met with officials, and went on a boat tour through Copenhagen Harbour. Argentine State Visit to The Netherlands

King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima of the Netherlands are hosting President Mauricio Macri and First Lady Juliana Awada of Argentina on a two-day State Visit from March 27 to 28. On Day 1, the King and Queen officially welcomed their guests, held a reception, attended a business forum, and hosted a State Banquet in the evening. Icelandic State Visit to Norway

President Guðni Th. Jóhannesson and First Lady Eliza Jean Reid of Iceland are on their first State Visit to Norway from March 21st to 23rd, where they are guests of the Norwegian Royal Family. On Day 1, King Harald and Queen Sonja officially welcomed the Presidential Couple, attended a wreath-laying ceremony, hosted an official luncheon, and accompanied them on engagements throughout the day. Royal Visit to Paris, 1938

On March 17th, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will start their two-day visit to Paris. In honour of the occasion, we at the Royal Watcher have been flashing back to previous royal visits to Paris. Today, for our final flashback, we will feature King George VI and Queen Elizabeth‘s infamous State Visit to Paris in July 1938. Originally scheduled for June, it was postponed to July after the Queen’s mother, the Countess of Strathmore, died five days before the start of the visit. The four day visit was extremely significant in the hostile environment of the late 30s. War with Nazi Germany was looming, the Royal visit to the French Capital needed to reinforce and solidify the friendship and Entente Cordiale between the two countries before WWII. This was also their first visit abroad after their accession to the Throne in December 1936. Continue reading
