Happy Birthday to Grand Duke Henri of Luxembourg, who turns 62 today. The eldest son of then Hereditary Grand Duke Jean and Princess Josephine Charlotte of Belgium (that makes him the first cousin of King Philippe of Belgium and a cousin of King Harald V of Norway), he became Hereditary Grand Duke in 1964 and was educated Luxembourg, France, Switzerland, and the UK. In 1981, he married María Teresa Mestre y Batista. The couple have five children, and succeeded to the Grand Ducal Throne in 2000, after the abdication of his father. Grand Duke Henri is the representative Head of Luxembourg and retains the constitutional power to appoint the Prime Minister and Government, to dissolve the Chamber of Deputies, to promulgate laws and to accredit ambassadors. I wish HRH a very Happy Birthday and Many Happy Returns!
