Australian State Visit to Belgium

King Philippe and Queen Mathilde of Belgium are hosting Governor General Sir Peter and Lady Cosgrove of Australia on a State Visit to Belgium from June 27th to 30th, at the invitation of the Belgian Government to celebrate and build diplomatic, economic, and cultural ties. The Governor General is the acting Australian Head of State and serves as the Federal Viceregal representative of the Queen of Australia, Queen Elizabeth II. Funeral of Duke Friedrich of Württemberg

Reigning and former Royals were among a host of illustrious attendees at the funeral of Duke Friedrich of Württemberg in Altshausen on May 25th. Duke Friedrich, eldest son and heir of Duke Carl of Württemberg and Princess Diane of Orléans, tragically died in a car accident on May 9, and leaves behind a wife, Duchess Marie, née Wied, and three children, Duke Wilhelm, Duchess Marie-Amélie and Duchess Sophie-Dorothée. Wedding of Prince Laurent of Belgium

Happy Anniversary to Prince Laurent and Princess Claire of Belgium, who got married on this day in 2003. The youngest son of King Albert and Queen Paola, Prince Laurent married the British-Belgian Claire Coombs in Brussels, in what has been the last Royal Wedding in the country to date. The couple have three children, and though he has been plagued by scandals, Prince Laurent and Princess Claire have remained happily married. Continue reading
