The Belgian Royal Family celebrated National Day with a series of events on July 20th. The day commemorates July 21st, 1831 in which Prince Leopold of Saxe-Cobourg-Gotha swore allegiance to the new Belgian constitution, thus becoming the first Head of State of an independent state of Belgium under a constitutional monarchy and parliament. This month, Royals from around Europe have been actively following the 2020 UEFA European Football Championship, commonly referred to as 2020 UEFA European Championship, UEFA Euro 2020, or Euro 2020, the quadrennial international men’s football championship of Europe organised by the Union of European Football Associations.
Today marks the anniversary of the birth of the late Queen Fabiola of the Belgians, daughter of the Marquess and Marchioness of Casa Riera, Fabiola Fernanda Maria de las Victorias Antonia Adelaïda de Mora y Aragón was born on this day in 1928! Despite the fact that the Belgian Royal Family is known for having the smallest jewellery collection among the European monarchies, Queen Fabiola was able to assemble a decent jewelry collection, including Tunisian Parure, the Wolfers Necklace Tiara, the Waterfall Brooch, her Aquamarines and the Spanish Wedding Gift Tiara. Today, in honour of the birthday of the late Queen, we are featuring her collection of bracelets.

Today marks the 55th Anniversary of the Death of Queen Elisabeth of Belgium, who died on this day in 1965! The illustrious Bavarian Duchess who was the beloved Belgian Queen, Queen Mother, and Queen Grandmother, Queen Elisabeth possessed a meagre jewellery collection, with today’s Diamond Bandeau being one of her earliest surviving jewels.
