Belgian National Day 2018

The Belgian Royal Family celebrated National Day 2018 with a series of ebents on July 20th and 21st. The day commemorates July 21st, 1831 in which Prince Leopold of Saxe-Cobourg-Gotha swore allegiance to the new Belgian constitution, thus becoming the first Head of State of an independent state of Belgium under a constitutional monarchy and parliament. Australian State Visit to Belgium

King Philippe and Queen Mathilde of Belgium are hosting Governor General Sir Peter and Lady Cosgrove of Australia on a State Visit to Belgium from June 27th to 30th, at the invitation of the Belgian Government to celebrate and build diplomatic, economic, and cultural ties. The Governor General is the acting Australian Head of State and serves as the Federal Viceregal representative of the Queen of Australia, Queen Elizabeth II. Funeral of Duke Friedrich of Württemberg

Reigning and former Royals were among a host of illustrious attendees at the funeral of Duke Friedrich of Württemberg in Altshausen on May 25th. Duke Friedrich, eldest son and heir of Duke Carl of Württemberg and Princess Diane of Orléans, tragically died in a car accident on May 9, and leaves behind a wife, Duchess Marie, née Wied, and three children, Duke Wilhelm, Duchess Marie-Amélie and Duchess Sophie-Dorothée.
