The Queen is visiting Scotland for Holyrood Week between June 28th June and July 1st, to undertake a range of engagements celebrating Scottish community, innovation and history. The Queen will stay at the Palace of Holyroodhouse, the sovereign’s official residence in Scotland, during her annual week-long stay in Edinburgh, which was cancelled last year due to the pandemic. The Queen will visit businesses, charities and cultural institutions that highlight the pioneering work taking place to further community engagement, education, technology and efforts to combat climate change. The Queen was accompanied by her cousin, the Duke of Kent and Colonel of the Scots Guards as she viewed the Military Parade in the Quadrangle of Windsor Castle to mark Her Majesty’s Official Birthday, on June 12th. The Trooping of the Colour has marked the official birthday of the British Sovereign for over 250 years, but unlike previous years, this year’s grand ceremony in London was cancelled, like last year, due to the ongoing pandemic.
The Queen and members of the Royal Family are in Cornwall to attend a series of events in connection to the ongoing G7 Summit, the meeting of the heads of government of Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom and the United States. The United Kingdom holds this year’s Presidency of the G7.
Today marks the 100th Birthday of the late Duke of Edinburgh, who passed away just a few weeks ago! The Greek Prince who became the hardworking longest serving Prince Consort of the longest-reigning Monarch in British History, the late Duke lived a long and fascinating life, with a strong interest in innovation and design.
