King Philippe and Queen Mathilde of Belgium are hosting the President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa of the Republic of Portugal on a State Visit to Belgium from October 16 to 19, at the invitation of the Belgian Government to celebrate and build diplomatic, economic, and cultural ties, under the themes of digitalization, innovation and energy. The Belgian King and Queen went on a State Visit to Portugal in 2018.
Archduke Alexander of Austria, son of Archduke Carl-Christian of Austria and Princess Marie-Astrid of Luxembourg, married Countess Natacha Roumiantzoff-Pachkevitch at the Eglise Saint Pierre de Belœil on September 30th, followed by a Reception at the Chateau de Belœil, the Seat of the Princes of Ligne, just days after the death of his grandmother, Archduchess Yolande, born a Princess of Ligne. The Belgian Royal Family gathered to see Crown Princess Elisabeth, the Duchess of Brabant, the Heiress to the Belgian Throne, sworn-in to the Rank of Second Lieutenant or Ensign Second Class in the Belgian Army at the Royal Military Academy in Brussels on September 26th. The Duchess of Brabant completed her training year at the Royal Military Academy in 2021 and is currently a student at Lincoln College in Oxford University.

The Belgian Royal Family celebrated National Day 2023 with a series of events on July 20th and 21st. The day commemorates July 21st, 1831 in which Prince Leopold of Saxe-Cobourg-Gotha swore allegiance to the new Belgian constitution, thus becoming the first Head of State of an independent state of Belgium under a constitutional monarchy and parliament. King Philippe and Queen Mathilde of Belgium are hosting King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima of The Netherlands on their State Visit to Belgium from June 20th to the 22nd, which is the latest in the close relationship between the Dutch and Belgian Royal Families over decades. The themes of the visit are improving social and physical quality of life, combating climate change, maintaining and promoting a safe society and a sustainable future in which energy is green and affordable. The visit contributes to the further deepening of the intensive cooperation, in which the Netherlands and Belgium strive for a safe, clean and sustainable future.
