After State Visits to Sweden, Norway, Greenland, Finland and France, King Frederik X and Queen Mary of Denmark are continuing their tour of the Baltic States after their State Visit to Latvia, by making State Visits to Estonia and Lithuania this week!
King Frederik X and Queen Mary were received by President Alar Karis and First Lady Sirje Karis in an Official Welcome Ceremony at at the Town Hall Square in Tallinn, followed by a wreath-laying at the Monument to the War of Independence, and a meeting with the Presidential Couple at the Presidential Palace, before they visited the Memorial to the Victims of Communism.
The King and Queen had Lunch Prime Minister Kristen Michal before meeting the Speaker of the Estonian Parliament, and visiting the Rakett69 Science Studios.

In the evening, Estonian President Alar Karis and First Lady Sirje Karis held a Concert and Banquet in honour of King Frederik X and Queen Mary at the St. Nicholas Church in Tallinn.
Queen Mary of Denmark debuted the almost two-centuries old ‘Flood Sapphire Brooch’, which has belonged to seven consecutive Queens of Denmark, and was reacquired after being donated for the victims of a flood in 1872.
In the evening, Queen Mary wore her Wedding Tiara with King Frederik X’s Portrait Order, and the Order of Terra Mariana.

Such an excellent idea to combine a concert with the State Banquet! As there are seemingly no Gala Performances anymore during State Vists it is a great way to still show off some of the cultural life of the hosting country. And the venue was amazing. Such an original idea and hopefully not the last time we see this!
Yes, it reminds me of some State Visits to Denmark and The Netherlands in the 50s, when there used to be Gala Performances ahead of State Banquets. It would be nice for it to come back.
