King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia of Spain are on a State Visit to the Republic of Finland from October 5-7, to highlight and strengthen the ties and bilateral relations between both countries.
King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia arrived in Helsinki on Octoebr 5th. and held a Reception for a representation of the Spanish community residing in the Republic of Finland. During the meeting with the community, King Felipe addressed the Spanish residents in Finland, emphasizing that:
“… your presence here is not just about living and working in Finland: it’s about explaining and sharing Spain, and at the same time, getting to know this country and bringing Finland and Spain closer together. It has often been said that those who leave their homeland end up being its best representatives. You, in your work, in your families, in the classrooms, in the laboratories, in the companies, and in all the relationships you establish here, bring Spain to Finland every day …”
The following morning, King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia were officially welcomed by President Alexander Stubb and First Lady Suzanne Innes-Stubb at the Presidential Palace in Helsinki, followed by a bilateral meeting between the King and President while the Queen and First lady visited the Käpylä Public School.
Later, the King and Queen attended a Lunch held by the Mayor at the Helsinki City Hall, before the King visited the Parliament of Finland and met with the Prime Minister of Finland, Petteri Orpo, at his official residence in Kesäranta, before joining the President at the Spain-Finland Business Day
In the evening, President Alexander Stubb and First Lady Suzanne Innes-Stubb hosted a State Banquet for King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia at the Presidential Palace in Helsinki, with speeches by both the King and President.
Queen Letizia wore Queen Victoria Eugenie’s Diamond Earrings, Queen Sofia’s Diamond Flower Brooch, and Queen Victoria Eugenie’s Diamond Bracelets with the Order of the White Rose of Finland.
