Happy 57th Birthday to Crown Prince Naruhito of Japan
Happy Birthday to Crown Prince Naruhito of Japan, who turns 57 today. The eldest son of Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko, Prince Naruhito is the eldest of three children and was born in the reign of his grandfather, Emperor Hirohito. Educated in Japan and the UK, he married Masako Owada in traditional and western ceremonies in Tokyo. The couple have one daughter, Princess Aiko, born eight years after the wedding, and the Crown Princess has been suffering from Adjustment Disorder, although many speculate that she is dealing with clinical depression, brought on by the pressures and constraints placed upon her by the strict Imperial Household Agency, though she has been coming back in public in recent years. Crown Prince Naruhito undertakes official duties, and often represents the Emperor at international royal events. Recently, Emperor Akihito announced announced his intent to abdicate due to old age and illness, with a government panel currently debating how to allow the procedure. This would mean, that Crown Prince Naruhito will succeed to the Japanese Throne by 2019. We wish HRH a very Happy Birthday and a long future reign!
