Six Kings and Nine Queens were among the Royal Guests and Relatives from around Europe who joined the Greek and Spanish Royal Families for the Wedding of Prince Juan Carlos of Spain and Princess Sophia of Greece and Denmark in Athens on this day in 1962 (60 years ago), and were led by King Paul and Queen Frederica of Greece with Crown Prince Constantine and Princess Irene as well as Queen Victoria Eugenie of Spain with the Count and Countess of Barcelona, along with Infanta Margarita and Infanta Pilar

The Sovereign Guests were King Olav V of Norway, Queen Ingrid of Denmark, Queen Juliana and Prince Bernhard of the Netherlands, King Umberto II and Queen Marie José of Italy, King Michael and Queen Anne of Romania with Queen Helen of Romania, Prince Rainier III and Princess Grace of Monaco, Prince Franz Josef II and Princess Gina of Liechtenstein, Grand Duke Jean and Grand Duchess Joséphine Charlotte of Luxembourg, and the Count and Countess of Paris.

  1. I am surprised not to see, among the Royal guests… Queen Frederica’s mother… Viktoria-Luise, the daughter of Kaiser Wilhelm II of Germany. She was the Duchess of Brunswick-Luneburg.

  2. I always thought Crown Price Constantine looked so handsome leaning against the column in the second to last photo. I imagine many ladies waited hours his attention.
