King Frederik X and Queen Mary hosted their first Council of State (Statsrådsmiddag) Dinner in Frederik VIII’s Palace at Amalienborg on March 18th. The Statsrådsmiddag is held once in each parliamentary term of office, but this was the first since the Accession of King Fredrik X in January.
King Philippe and Queen Mathilde of Belgium will host Grand Duke Henri and Grand Duchess Maria Teresa of Luxembourg on their State Visit to Belgium from April 16-18, following the Belgian State Visit to Luxembourg in 2019. King Philippe and Grand Duke Henri are first cousins.
The Queen and Duke of Edinburgh continued their six-month Commonwealth Tour in Australia when they arrived in Adelaide on this day in 1954, following Tours around the United Kingdom after the Queen’s Coronation. The stops in Bermuda, Jamaica, Panama, Fiji, Tonga, New Zealand and Australia were followed by visits to Ceylon, Aden, Uganda, Malta and Gibraltar.

Queen Margrethe II and Prince Henrik of Denmark were hosted by King Fahd of Saudi Arabia on their State Visit to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on this day in 1984, 40 years ago, becoming the second female Head of State to visit the Middle East five years after Queen Elizabeth II became the first female Head of State to visit the Middle East.
