Princess Lilian’s Amethyst and Pearl Necklace

Today marks the Anniversary of the Death of Princess Lilian of Sweden, who died on this day in 2013! The Welsh Actress who waited 30 years to marry her Swedish Prince and became a beloved member of the Swedish Royal Family, Princess Lilian possessed a spectacular collection of jewels, which included this Amethyst and Pearl Necklace!

A striking Necklace composed of two strands of pearls, with a large clasp of Amethysts, Pink Tourmaline, and Sapphires set in gold, created by Kristian Nilsson, this piece was likely acquired by Princess Lilian at some point in the 1980s.

In 1987, Princess Lilian was pictured wearing her Kristian Nilsson Amethyst and Pearl Necklace, attending a lunch on Opera Terrace in Stockholm with the International Women Club and Princess Christina.

Princess Lilian also wore her Kristian Nilsson Amethyst and Pearl Necklace for a Lunch at some point in the 1990s.

After Princess Lilian’s death in 2013, the Kristian Nilsson Amethyst and Pearl Necklace was listed in her will as being worth 80 000 SEK and was inherited by Queen Silvia, along with her Pearl Brooch and Egyptian Necklace.

In 2017, Queen Silvia debuted Princess Lilian’s Amethyst and Pearl Necklace for a Sverigemiddag at the Royal Palace of Stockholm.

A few days later, Queen Silvia wore Princess Lilian’s Kristian Nilsson Amethyst and Pearl Necklace again, for the World Childhood Foundation USA Thank You Gala in New York City. Let’s hope we see her wear this striking jewel again soon!
