Ceylon State Opening of Parliament, 1954

Queen Elizabeth II is accompanied by the the Duke of Edinburgh as she opens the third session of the Second Parliament of Ceylon (now Sri Lanka) at the Independence Hall in Colombo on this day in 1954, as part of the 6-month Commonwealth Tour, which included State Openings of Parliament in New Zealand and Australia.

The Queen wore her Coronation gown with the Vladimir Tiara and her Coronation Necklace and Earrings. Lady Pamela Mountbatten wore her Hicks Tiara.
