Royal Guests and Relatives from around Europe celebrated the Wedding of Prince Ernest Augustus of Hanover and Princess Ortrud of Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Glücksburg in Hanover on this day in 1951, 75 years ago, following a Ball at Schloss Marienburg.
Prince Ernst August of Hanover, son of Prince Ernst August of Hanover, the Duke of Brunswick and Princess Victoria Louise of Prussia, married Princess Ortrud of Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Glücksburg in a religious ceremony in Hanover, following a Civil Ceremony in Nordstemmen.
Princess Ortrud wore a Köchert Diamond Tiara and the Queen Charlotte’s Nuptial Crown.
King Paul and Queen Frederica of Greece, the only sister of the groom, led the Royal Guests and Relatives from around Europe, among them members of the Royal Families of Saxony, Hesse, Mecklenburg, Oldenburg, and Baden.
