Royal Guests at the Wedding of Princess Märtha Louise of Norway

Royal Guests and Relatives from around Europe joined the Norwegian Royal Family for the Wedding of Princess Märtha Louise of Norway and the late Ari Behn in Trondheim on this day in 2002 (20 years ago), which came less than a year after a big gathering of royal guests for the Wedding of her brother, Crown Prince Haakon, so to mark the day, we are featuring the Royal Guests at the Wedding of Princess Märtha Louise!

The Wedding Service took place at the Nidaros Cathedral, and was followed by a carriage ride through the streets of Trondheim, and ended with a Balcony Appearance and Banquet at the Stiftsgården. In the evening, the bridal couple and their guests viewed the fireworks from the steps of the Palace.

Princess Märtha Louise wore Queen Maud’s Pearl Tiara with her Wedding Brooch.

  1. This may have been the last time that Princess Viggo’s Garnet Kokoshnik Tiara was worn in public. I think it has since been sold, which makes me very sad. It;s so pretty and unusual. I’m so sorry that the story of Princess Martha Louise and Ari Behn had such a sad ending. They looked so happy here, so full of promise and hope!
