Happy Birthday to Prince Lorenz of Belgium, Archduke of Austria-Este, who turns 63 today! The eldest son of Archduke Robert, Archduke of Austria-Este and Princess Margherita of Savoy-Aosta, he was born in France and served in the Austrian Armed Forces before studying economics at the University of St. Gallen in Switzerland and the University of Innsbruck in Austria. In 1984, he married Princess Astrid of Belgium, the only daughter of King Albert II and Queen Paola of Belgium. The couple have five children and one granddaughter, and he became a Prince of Belgium in 1995. The following year, Prince Lorenz succeeded his father as the Archduke of Austria-Este, a cadet branch of the House of Habsburg-Lorraine. I wish HI&RH a very Happy Birthday and many Happy Returns!

I have no idea what Prince Lorenz does for a living, but as far as I can see he has led an excellent, quiet life with his wife Princess Astrid and their children. He has always been there to support her in her duties and has kept himself trim and agile. I wish him joy on his birthday!
