Following a Ball at the Royal Palace of Brussels, Royal Guests and Relatives from around Europe attended the magnificent Gala held by the Belgian Government at the Musée du Cinquantenaire in Brussels on this day in 1960, on the eve of the Wedding of King Baudouin of Belgium and Doña Fabiola de Mora y Aragón.

That was quite an array of awesome jewels, wasn’t it! I wonder what became of Queen Fabiola’s Spanish Gift tiara. I’m hoping it’s lurking in the Belgian royal jewel vault waiting for the right moment to bust out! Maybe Queen Mathilde is waiting for her daughter’s marriage or something fabulous like that to wear it. But then again, we may have to wait a loooong time to see it because I don’t think Princess Elisabeth is quite ready to get married yet, not for a long while! 🙂
