The Duke and Duchess of Kent joined the Prince and Princess of Liege for a glittering Banquet and Ball marking the 150th Anniversary of the Battle of Waterloo at the British Embassy in Brussels on this day in 1965.
The Prince and Princess of Liege (in Queen Elisabeth’s Diamond Bandeau) joined the Duke and Duchess of Kent (in Queen Mary’s Crochet Bandeau Tiara) for a glittering Banquet marking the 150th Anniversary of the Battle of Waterloo at the British Embassy in Brussels.
On 15 June 1965 the British Ambassador in Brussels held a ball to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the Battle of Waterloo and the Duchess of Richmond’s ball. 540 guests attended the function of whom the majority were Belgians. This commemoration ball has now become an annual event with the money raised going to support several charities

The Duke and Duchess of Wellington hosted the Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall at a magnificent Banquet at Apsley House in London in 2015, to mark the Bicentenary of the Battle of Waterloo.
The Duke and Duchess of Wellington (in the Wellington Tiara and Diamond Earrings) hosted a Banquet for the Battle of Waterloo Bicentenary at Apsley House in London, with the Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall (wearing the Greville Tiara and Greville Festoon Necklace) as the Guests of Honour.
The Duke recreated Wellington’s Waterloo banquet at Apsley House – which he held every year until his death.
The Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall joined the Duke and Duchess of Wellington, Prince Nikolaus von Blucher of Prussia and Prince Charles Bonaparte to visit the battlefield at Waterloo before unveiling the memorial at Hougoumont Farm, along with Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume and Hereditary Grand Duchess Stéphanie of Luxembourg, Princess Astrid of Belgium and Prince Pieter-Christiaan of Oranje-Nassau.
Meanwhile, King Philippe and Queen Mathilde hosted a reception at the Castle of Laeken for Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume and Hereditary Grand Duchess Stéphanie of Luxembourg, and for the descendants of the four main commanders of the Waterloo battlefield: Prince Blücher (Prussia), Prince Jean-Christophe Napoléon (France), Prince Pieter-Christiaan of Oranje-Nassau (Netherlands) and the Marquess and Marchioness of Douro (Britain).
In the evening, the Duke and Duchess of Wellington (in Diamond Tassel Earrings) attended a Banquet at the Egmont Palace in Brussels on the eve of the Bicentenary.
On the day of the Bicentenary, the Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall were joined by the Earl of Wessex, the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, and the Duke and Duchess of Wellington for a National Service at St Paul’s Cathedral in London.
King Philippe and Queen Mathilde of Belgium were joined by King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima of the Netherlands, Grand Duke Henri and Grand Duchess Maria Teresa of Luxembourg, Prince Nikolaus Furst Blucher von Wahlstatt, Prince Jean-Christophe Napoléon, Duke of Kent, and the Marquess and Marchioness of Douro to attend the Belgian federal government ceremony to commemorate the bicentenary of the Battle of Waterloo in Waterloo.
