Duchess of Westminster’s Diamond Necklace

Happy Birthday to the Dowager Duchess of Westminster, who turns 64 today! The illustrious aristocrat who grew up close to the Royal Family before marrying the wealthy Duke and becoming a godmother of the Prince of Wales, the Duchess possesses a spectacular Jewellery Collection, which includes this versatile Diamond Necklace!

A striking three-strand diamond collet necklace, which can be also worn as two strands, with two diamond rosettes on the side and a pair of diamond earrings. The necklace may be an heirloom of the Dukes of Westminster but it could also have been acquired by the 6th Duke for his Duchess, who was seen wearing the piece in the 1980s.

In the 1980s, the Duchess of Westminster wore only two strands of the diamond necklace with the Rosebery Tiara for a Banquet in London.

The full Diamond Necklace was also worn by a model, possibly Laura Montagu, now Countess of Burlington, who wore it with the Rosebery Tiara during a photoshoot when she tried on major pieces of the Westminster collection in the 1990s.

The necklace has been worn more recently by the Duchess, including to a wedding, so lets hope we see it soon at the wedding of her son, the current Duke of Westminster.
