The Wedding of Berthold, the Margrave of Baden, son of Prince Maximilian of Baden and Princess Marie Louise of Hanover and Cumberland, and Princess Theodora of Greece and Denmark, daughter of Prince Andrew of Greece and Denmark and Princess Alice of Battenberg, at the Neues Schloß in Baden-Baden on this day in 1931. The couple had three children, including the current Margrave and Princess Margarita of Yugoslavia, and resided between the family’s extensive estates, mainly Schloss Salem, where the current Duke of Edinburgh also resided with them for a period of time. The Margrave died in 1963, and Princess Theodora in 1969.
In addition to various members of the German Nobility, Royal Guests and Relatives in attendance included Prince Andrew, Princess Margarita, Princess Theodora, Princess Cecilie, and Prince Phillip of Greece while Princess Alice (then in an asylum) was not present. This was the fourth and of the weddings of the four sisters within a few months, after Prince Christoph of Hesse wed Princess Sophie of Greece, Hereditary Grand Duke Georg Donatus of Hesse married Princess Cecilie of Greece, and Princess Margarita married the Prince of Hohenlohe-Langenburg. Crown Princess Louise of Sweden (aunt of the bride) wrote to a family friend:
I do hope Dolla will have a very happy life with Berthold because I think in some ways she expects more than her sisters.”

Princess Theodora was the last sister to marry that year as she married Berthold, Margrave of Baden. They married at Baden-Baden in Germany. I'm sure the ten year old Prince Philip was sick of weddings by the end of 1931. pic.twitter.com/dXfg0bDIUk
