Wedding of Crown Prince Leka of Albania

Crown Prince Leka of the Albanians married Ms Elia Zaharia on October 8th at the Royal Palace of Tirana. After the wedding ceremony, a reception was held at the Royal Residence. A number of representatives of foreign royal families were present, including Queen Sofia of Spain and Empress Farah of Iran. The wedding ceremony of Crown Prince Leka and Elia Zaharia took place at the Royal Palace of Tirana. The bride and groom walked down the aisle together, had a short ceremony conducted by the mayor, and then listened to speeches by leaders of the major religions of Albania. A number of representatives of current and former Royal families were present not only at the ceremony, but also at a wedding dinner, including Queen Sofia of Spain, Empress Farah of Iran, Princess Irene of Greece, Prince & Princess Michael of Kent, Princess Lea of Belgium, Crown Princess Margareta of Romania, Prince George Frederick of Prussia, the Crown Prince & Princess of Serbia, Princess Lalla Meriem of Morocco, Princess Noal Zaher of Afghanistan, the Duke & Duchess of Braganza, Grand Duchess Maria Vladimirovna of Russia, the Duke & Duchess of Castro, and Princess Gloria von Thurn & Taxis. Image and video hosting by TinyPic

In the evening, a White Tie & Tiara banquet was held at the Royal Palace in Tirana. Among the royal ladies, Princess Michael of Kent wore the Kent Pearl Festoon Tiara, Crown Princess Margareta of Romania wore the The Romanian Greek Key Tiara, Grand Duchess Maria Vladimirovna of Russia wore a Cartier pearl and diamond Kokoshnik. The new Crown Princess of Albania wore the Sapphire Goat Tiara. Princess Gloria von Thurn & Taxis and Crown Princess Katherine of Serbia also wore tiaras, but it is difficult to identify.

For the ceremony, the new Crown Princess of Albania wore a satin gown with heavy embroidery over the bodice and hem and a long train. She wore the Sapphire Goat Tiara with diamond stud earrings. Crown Prince Leka wore morning dress with a white tie. For the reception, the bride changed into a lace dress, and changed back again into her wedding dress for the Banquet.
