When Prince Guillaume of Luxembourg married Sibilla Weiller in 1994, the illustrious bride, who was the daughter of Princess Olimpia Torlonia and a great-granddaughter of Queen Victoria Eugenie of Spain, received this Ruby and Diamond Necklace as a wedding gift from her in-laws, Grand Duke Jean and Grand Duchess Joséphine Charlotte of Luxembourg.

The bride first wore her wedding gift Ruby and Diamond Necklace for her spectacular Wedding Gala at the Musée Jacquemart-André in Paris in 1994.

In the early years of her marriage, Princess Sibilla often wore the Ruby and Diamond Necklace with her Art Deco Tiara for royal occasions, including the Wedding of Princess Alexandra of Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg and Count Jefferson von Pfeil und Klein-Ellguth in 1997 and the Wedding of Crown Prince Haakon of Norway in 2001.

Princess Sibilla also wore the Ruby Necklace for the Wedding Ball of the Prince of Prussia and Princess Sophie of Isenburg in 2011, as well as for the Wedding Ball of Crown Prince Leka of Albania in 2016, when it was worn with a pair of large ruby and diamond earrings.

The Ruby and Diamond Necklace continues to be one of Princess Sibilla’s most worn pieces, appearing at the majority of her gala events, most recently the Wedding Ball of the Prince of Schaumburg-Lippe in 2021. There is no doubt we will continue to see it for years to come!
