King Harald V and Queen Sonja of Norway started their State Visit to Finland on September 6th. They were welcomed by the President and First Lady of Finland, and later attended a State Banquet.
The visit started when President Sauli Niinistö and First Lady Jenni Haukio welcomed the Norwegian Royal Couple at the Presidential Palace in Helsinki. The Presidential couple, along with the King and Queen, waved to the crowds on the Balcony, presented gifts, and had an informal chat.
In the evening, President Niinistö held a State Banquet in Honour of their Norwegian guests. Both King Harald and President Niinistö made speeches. Queen Sonja wore a grey gown with pearls and the full version of Queen Maud’s Pearl and Diamond Tiara. First Lady Jenni Haukio wore an aubergine gown with a diamond star brooch. Both men wore white tie.
