A glittering Banquet for Heads of State hosted by the Lord Mayor of London at the Guildhall on this day in 1995. The Banquet marked the end of a long day of celebrations marking the 50th Anniversary of VE (Victory in Europe) Day.

Members of the British Royal Family in attendance included the Queen (wearing her Girls of Great Britain & Ireland Tiara and the Sash and Star of the Order of the Garter) and Duke of Edinburgh (in the neck badge of the Order of Merit, the Sash and Star of the Order of the Garter, and the Star of the Order of the Thistle), the Prince of Wales (wearing the neck badge of the Order of Merit, the Sash and Star of the Order of the Garter, the Star of the Order of the Thistle, and the Star of the Order of the Bath), Duke of York, Earl of Wessex, Princess Margaret (in the Poltimore Tiara), Duke and Duchess of Gloucester (wearing the Gloucester Honeysuckle Tiara), Duke and Duchess of Kent (in the Kent Pearl and Diamond Fringe Tiara), Princess Alexandra (wearing the Ogilvy Tiara), and Prince and Princess Michael of Kent (in the Kent Festoon Tiara).

Royal guests included Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands (wearing the Württemberg Ornate Pearl Tiara), Grand Duke Henri and Grand Duchess Josephine Charlotte of Luxembourg (in the Belgian Scroll Tiara), King Hussein and Queen Noor of Jordan (wearing her Diamond Sunray Tiara), Crown Prince Haakon of Norway, Princess Benedikte of Denmark (in her Floral Tiara), and Princess Shruti of Nepal.
