Happy Birthday to Lady Sarah Chatto! The only daughter of Princess Margaret and Anthony Armstrong Jones, Lord Snowdon, she is the younger sister of David, Lord Snowdon, and was born during the Royal Baby Boom of 1964. The only niece of Queen Elizabeth II, Lady Sarah is a favourite of the Royal family, praised for her loyalty and discretion, and was schooled with Prince Edward and James Ogilvy at Buckingham Palace, before studying at Bedales School, the Camberwell School of Art and the Royal Academy Schools. In 1994, Lady Sarah married Daniel Chatto, whom she met while working on the film Heat and Dust in India. The couple have two sons, and pursue careers as painters in London. Lady Sarah does not undertake royal duties, but is an elegant presence at family events, including the Queen’s 90th Birthday Thanksgiving Service and the annual Christmas Lunch at Buckingham Palace, as well as Royal Weddings and Funerals. Odd really; but I was just thinking back to when i shared a studio at the Royal Academy Schools with Lady Sarah in the 80’s. I’m not a Royal watcher but very much hope sarah is ok.
