The Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, Princess Alexandra, and Prince and Princess Michael of Kent joined King Charles and Queen Camilla for the RHS Chelsea Flower Show at the Royal Hospital Chelsea on May 20th, while the Princess of Wales attended the first ever Children’s Picnic. Prince Ludwig of Bavaria, future Head of the House of Wittelsbach, will marry Sophie-Alexandra Evekink at the Theatinerkirche (St. Kajetan) in Munich tomorrow, to be followed by a Reception at Schloss Nymphenburg and a Ball at Schloss Schleißheim. We have already covered the Bavarian Royal Tiaras, so instead we are featuring the Bavarian Sapphire Floral Tiara belonging to Prince Ludwig’s branch of the family!
The Norwegian Royal Family hosted Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi and Empress Farah of Iran on their State Visit to Norway on this day in 1961, followed by King Olav’s State Visit to Iran in 1965.
The Norwegian Royal Family celebrated Constitution Day, the National Day of Norway, on May 17th by greeting the annual Children’s Parade in Asker from Skaugum (residence of the Crown Princely family) and another from the balcony of the Royal Palace of Oslo. Princess Ingrid Alexandra is part of the graduating class this year, and was thus celebrating with her classmates and friends and not joining the Royal Family to greet the Children’s Parades.
