Cabo Verde State Visit to Luxembourg 

Grand Duke Henri of Luxembourg is hosting President José Maria Neves of the Republic of Cabo Verde and First Lady Débora Katisa Morais Brazão Carvalho on their State Visit to Luxembourg from May 23rd to the 25th, with a focus on economy, finance, renewable energies, technology, education.

 

President José Maria Neves and First Lady Débora Katisa Morais Brazão were welcomed by Grand Duke Henri in an Official Welcome Ceremony outside the Grand Ducal Palace, which was followed by an Audience as well as the laying of a wreath at the ‘Monument de la Solidarité Nationale‘, the national war memorial of Luxembourg.

 

Later, the Grand Duke joined the President and First Lady for a welcome at the Hotel de Ville by Mayor Lydie Polfer, with a performance by musicians and the Fortissimo Choir of the Conservatory of the City of Luxembourg, followed by a visit to the Lëtzebuerg City Museum and then the walk through the ‘Chemin de la Corniche’.

In the evening, Grand Duke Henri was joined by Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume as he hosted a State Banquet for President José Maria Neves and First Lady Débora Katisa Morais Brazão at the Grand Ducal Palace. Both the Grand Duke and President gave speeches. Grand Duchess Maria Teresa is currently covid positive, while Hereditary Grand Duchess Stéphanie is on maternity leave.
