The Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, Princess Alexandra, and Prince and Princess Michael of Kent joined King Charles and Queen Camilla for the RHS Chelsea Flower Show at the Royal Hospital Chelsea on May 20th, while the Princess of Wales attended the first ever Children’s Picnic. Members of the Royal family have attended the Show, held by the Royal Horticultural Society, regularly since its inception in 1913.

On arrival, the Royal Family were greeted by the President of the Royal Horticultural Society, Keith Weed, before touring the gardens and viewing the displays, including: the London Square Community Garden, the Samaritans’ Listening Garden, the RHS and Eastern Eye Garden of Unity, and the Garden of Royal Reflection and Celebration, which represents a celebration of the Coronation. Members of the Royal Family attended a private reception before departing.

The Princess of Wales met pupils and guests taking part in the first Children’s Picnic at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show. Ten schools from the Royal Horticultural Society’s (RHS) Campaign for School Gardening were invited to bring pupils along to the Flower Show. Later, she spoke to the Chelsea Pensioners who are residents at the Royal Hospital Chelsea, a retirement home and nursing home for former members of the British Army.
