The Japanese Imperial Family joined Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako as they hosted the annual Spring Garden Party for 1,750 guests from across Japanese Society at the Akasaka Imperial Palace on April 17th.
The Imperial Family lined up in a single line with the Emperor and Empress at the front, and instead of proceeding along the same route, they took three routes: the Emperor and Empress, Prince and Princess Akishino, Princess Aiko, Princess Kako, and others.
The annual event serves to honour citizens who have made distinguished contributions to Japanese society, including sports legends, Nobel laureates, and leaders in culture and the arts.
