Japanese State Visit to Britain

King Charles III and Queen Camilla of the United Kingdom are hosting the Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako of Japan on their long-awaited State Visit to the United Kingdom this week, which was originally scheduled for 2020. Despite the fractious years of the Second World War, the British Royal Family and the Japanese Imperial Family have had a close relationship over the past 150 years.

Japanese New Year’s Reception 2023

The Japanese Imperial Family presided over the Ceremony of New Year’s Celebration at the Imperial Palace in Tokyo on January 1st. This was the third New Year’s Reception of Emperor Naruhito’s Reign, but due to the ongoing pandemic, the Ceremonies were reduced from six to five, and only one-tenth, 262, people were received. The Imperial ladies refrained from wearing Tiaras due to the ‘severe situation of many people’. Continue reading
