Princess Astrid of Norway (sister of King Harald) married the divorced commoner Johan Martin Ferner in Asker on this day in 1961. The religious ceremony, officiated by the retired Bishop Arne Fjellbu of Nidaros, was followed by a Banquet for 200 at the Skaugum Estate hosted by King Olav. Royal Guests included Crown Princess Margrethe of Denmark (wearing the Alexandrine Drop Tiara), Hereditary Grand Duke Jean and Hereditary Grand Duchess Josephine Charlotte of Luxembourg (in the Belgian Scroll Tiara), Princess Margret (wearing Empress Maria Frederovna’s Sapphire Bandeau) and the Earl of Snowdon, Princess Margretha (in her Floral Tiara) and Princess Dagmar of Denmark (wearing her Diamond Floral Tiara), Prince Bertil and Princess Margaretha of Sweden (wearing the Four-Button Tiara).
