Duchess of Aosta’s Musy Pearl Tiara 

Today marks the 175th Anniversary of the Birth of Princess Maria Vittoria dal Pozzo, Princess della Cisterna, Duchess of Aosta and Queen of Spain, who was born on this day in 1847! The aristocratic Heiress who was the Princess della Cisterna, Princess of Belriguardo, Marchioness of Voghera and Countess of Ponderano in her own right, she married Prince Amadeo of Savoy, Duke of Aosta, a younger son of King Victor Emmanuel II of Italy, who became the King of Spain between 1870 and 1873, passing away at the age of 29, soon after their return. Princess Armand d’Arenberg’s Diamond Earrings

Later today, Princess Armand d’Arenbeg will be buried at the Parish Church near the Family Seat at the Château de Gerbéviller. The Princess, who passed away earlier this month at the age of 101, was the eldest of the three daughters of Charles de Lambertye-Gerbéviller, Marquis de Gerbéviller and Lorena Sancho-Mata y Contreras, and married Prince Armand-Louis Hélie d’Arenberg in 1941, having two children, with the Princess having a special friendship with Prince Paul of Yugoslavia. The couple inherited the Château from her father and it remains the Family Home, though these spectacular Diamond Earrings that we are featuring today are no longer in their possession!

Grand Duchess Adélaïde Tiara

Today marks the 80th Anniversary of the Death of Grand Duchess Maria-Ana of Luxembourg, who died on this in 1941! Born Infanta Maria-Ana of Portugal, daughter of the deposed King Miguel of Portugal, she grew up in the Austro-Hungarian Empire before marrying the Grand Duke of Luxembourg and having six daughters, two of whom became Grand Duchesses, among them Grand Duchess Charlotte. After serving as Regent of Luxembourg between 1908 to 1912, Grand Duchess Maria-Ana lived mainly at Schloss Hohenburg in Bavaria, before joining the Grand Ducal Family when they fled Europe into exile in the United States, where she passed away in 1942. Today marks the 150th Anniversary of the Birth of Princess Clémentine of Belgium, Princess Napoléon, who was born on this day in 1872! The youngest daughter of King Leopold II and Queen Marie Henriette of Belgium, Princess Clémentine had a tumultuous childhood, before a secret romance with Prince Napoléon Victor Bonaparte, who she eventually married after her father’s death, Princess Clémentine inherited some splendid jewels from her mother, which included this spectacular Diamond and Pearl Tiara!

Royal Family at the Commonwealth Games 2022

The 2022 XXII Commonwealth Games are being held in Birmingham and members of the Royal Family will be present for multiple events from July 28th to August 8th, which we will all feature in this article that will be updated daily. The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, The Earl and Countess of Wessex, The Princess Royal and The Duke and Duchess of Gloucester will attend events and engagements in celebration of the Games, as well as visiting the sporting venues, attending a range of fixtures and meeting athletes, volunteers and support staff helping to deliver the Commonwealth Games.
