Happy Birthday to the Prince of Wales! The eldest child of the then Princess Elizabeth and the Duke of Edinburgh, he became heir to the throne in 1952, after the death of his grandfather, King George VI. The eldest of four siblings, Prince Charles was always particularly close to his grandmother, the Queen Mother. In 1969, he was formally invested as Prince of Wales at Caernarfon Castle. Educated in the UK, the Prince studied at Trinity College, Cambridge, and served in the Royal Navy from 1971 to 1976. In 1981, he married Lady Diana Spencer at St. Paul’s Cathedral. The couple had two sons, Prince William and Prince Harry, and divorced in 1996. In 2005, the Prince married Camilla Parker Bowles, who took his secondary title of ‘Duchess of Cornwall‘. Founding The Prince’s Trust in 1976, the Prince of Wales is patron and champion of numerous other charitable, arts, and environmental organisations. I wish HRH a very Happy Birthday and Many Happy Returns!

  1. It’s funny that many people who criticized him for his “organic planting” more than 30 years ago and are now embracing the very same thing. 🙂 I’m glad he’s been vindicated in a lot of his ideas. I think he is very earnest and sincere in his desire to help and I don’t think people give him enough credit for it. I wish him joy!
