The late Diana, Princess of Wales, mother of the Duke of Cambridge and Prince Harry, would have turned 56 today. Born the third daughter of the later Earl Spencer and the Hon. Frances Roche, Lady Diana Spencer’s parents got divorced when she was seven. Educated in England and Switzerland, she was a nursery teacher’s assistant in London when she began a relationship with the Prince of Wales. The couple got married in a grand ceremony in St. Paul’s Cathedral in 1981. The Prince and Princess of Wales had two children, Prince William and Prince Harry. They undertook an extensive amount of duties and foreign tours on behalf of the Queen, and the Princess became a style icon and one of the most popular members of the Royal Family. In 1992, the couple announced their separation, divorcing in 1996. After her divorce, she was known as Diana, Princess of Wales. In August 1997, she died in a car crash in Paris while escaping the Paparazzi. Diana, Princess of Wales is buried in an island in Althrop, the private estate owned by her brother, Earl Spencer. For her Birthday this year, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry will attend a rededication ceremony at her grave.
