King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia of Sweden are hosting King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima of the Netherlands on their State Visit to Sweden from October 11th to the 13th, to celebrate and build diplomatic, economic, and cultural ties in the first Dutch State Visit to Sweden in over 35 years. Energy transition, sustainability, the life sciences and smart mobility are central themes of the State Visit with  shared values and cooperation on innovative solutions for the challenges of today and the future.

King Carl XVI Gustaf’s Golden Jubilee Schedule

The Swedish Royal Court has announced the schedule for King Carl XVI Gustaf’s Golden Jubilee Celebrations throughout the year of 2023, alongside unveiling the anniversary logo designed by Elis Nyström. King Carl XVI Gustaf is the longest reigning King in Swedish History and the first Swedish Monarch to celebrate a Golden Jubilee, though his cousin, Queen Margrethe II of Denmark celebrated her Golden Jubilee last year. The Jubilee will also be marked with events in several places throughout the country, with a number of interviews, TV documentaries and book releases about the King’s life and reign.

Prince Joachim of Denmark’s Children lose Princely Titles

The Danish Royal Court has released a Statement that from January 1st, 2023, the four children of Prince Joachim of Denmark, younger son of Queen Margrethe II, can only use their titles of Count and Countess of Monpezat, as their previous titles as Prince and Princess of Denmark will lapse. Thus, Prince Nikolai, Prince Felix, Prince Henrik, and Princess Athena are now titled Count Nikolai, Count Felix, Count Henrik, and Countess Athena of Monpezat. I was in Buckingham Palace when the Queen died 

When I was planning this month’s articles at the end of last month, I had set aside today to feature my thoughts on the ‘Platinum Jubilee: The Queen’s Accession’ Display at Buckingham Palace, which I was due to visit during my visit to London in September enroute to Denmark to cover Queen Margrethe’s Golden Jubilee Celebrations, though never could I have guessed that I would be inside the Palace when Queen Elizabeth II passed away.
