Today marks the 110th Anniversary of the Birth of the Princess Marie Elisabeth zu Wied, who was born on this day in 1913! The daughter of the Second World War German Ambassador to Sweden, who then settled in Sweden, becoming a children’s book author and a close friend of the Swedish Royal Family, Princess Marie Elisabeth zu Wied was often seen wearing this heirloom Diamond Tiara!
King Charles III, Head of the Commonwealth, and Queen Camilla (wearing Queen Mary’s Russian Sapphire Cluster Brooch) were accompanied by the Prince and Princess of Wales, the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, the Princess Royal and Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence as they attended the annual Commonwealth Day Service at Westminster Abbey on March 13th. The King is the Head of the Commonwealth, and the Commonwealth Service is the largest annual inter-faith gathering in the United Kingdom.

Princess Iman bint Abdullah of Jordan, the elder daughter of King Abdullah II and Queen Rania of Jordan, married Jameel Alexander Thermiotis in a Katb al Kitab Ceremony at the Beit Al Urdun Palace in Amman on the afternoon of March 12th. King Charles III has conferred the Dukedom of Edinburgh upon The Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex and Forfar, on the occasion of his 59th birthday. Ahead of King Charles and Queen Camilla’s State Visit to France, we thought it would be a good idea to cover when the British Royal Family hosted French President Vincent Auriol and Madame Auriol on their State Visit to the United Kingdom on this day in 1950, during the French State Visit to Britain, reaffirming the Anglo-French alliance after the Second World War. This was the first State Visit to Britain following the Second World War, with the last Alsing having been a French State Visit in 1939.
