Likely created in England, circa 1890/1900, likely for the then Princess of Fürstenberg, née Countess Irma of Schönborn Buchheim, but was not publicly photographed until 1977, when it was worn by Princess Marie Antoinette von Fürstenberg, daughter of the then Prince von Fürstenberg, for her Wedding Ball with Count Johannes of Schoenborn Wiesentheid at the Family Seat of Schloss Donaueschingen. Princess Marie Antoinette and Count Johannes were pictured with their mothers; Princess Paula von Fürstenberg (wearing the Fürstenberg Pearl and Diamond Tiara) and Countess Helen of Schönborn-Wiesentheid (in her Pearl and Diamond Tiara).
A few years later, Princess Paula herself wore the Turquoise and Diamond Tiara for a Ball at Schloss Nymphenburg, possibly yje Wedding Ball of Duke Philipp of Württemberg and Duchess Marie-Caroline in Bavaria at Schloss Nymphenburg in 1991 or the Wedding Ball of Hereditary Prince Alois of Liechtenstein and Duchess Sophie in Bavaria in 1993.
The Turquoise and Diamond Tiara was also worn by Princess Paula’s younger daughter, Princess Anna von Fürstenberg when she married James Giraldo at Schloss Donaueschingen in 1994.
Less than a year after they sold their Pearl and Diamond Tiara at Christie’s in Geneva, the Fürstenberg Princely Family have put the Turquoise and Diamond Tiara on auction at the Neumeister Münchener Kunstauktionshaus in Munich on March 29 and March 30, with an estimate of 45,000 EUR – 55,000 EUR. Following the sale, the Princely Family will only retain their Diamond Tiara.
