New Portraits of the Swedish Royal Family
Royal Families from around the world joined the British Royal Family for the Duke of Edinburgh’s Memorial Service at Westminster Abbey on March 29th, to celebrate the life and legacy of the extraordinary public figure that was HRH Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh, after his Funeral last April had to be modified due to the Pandemic.
The Swedish and Norwegian Royal Families have been presiding over the annual Nobel Prize and Nobel Peace Prize Ceremonies in Stockholm and Oslo today, after a break last year due to the Pandemic. This year’s ceremonies are much reduced than usual, without the glittering Banquets, so instead of having two separate articles, we are compiling both Ceremonies into one article!
King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia of Sweden are hosting King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia of Spain on their State Visit to Sweden from November 23rd to the 25th, to celebrate and build diplomatic, economic, and cultural ties in the first Spanish State Visit to Sweden in over 40 years. King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden and King Felipe VI of Spain are both descended through Queen Victoria from their respective grandmother, Crown Princess Margareta of Sweden, and great-grandmother, Queen Victoria Eugenie of Spain.
The Swedish Royal Family hosting President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and the First Lady Elke Büdenbender, who are on a State Visit to Sweden from September 7th to the 9th, to celebrate and build diplomatic, economic, and cultural ties. King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia last made a State Visit to Germany in 2016, and have many close ties to the country. Continue reading
Prince Julian Herbert Folke of Sweden, Duke of Halland, the third son of Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia of Sweden, was christened in the Chapel of Drottningholm Palace on August 14th. Prince Julian is the first of the King’s grandchildren who was not born a member of the Swedish Royal House, and while he received a Ducal Title, he will not enjoy the style of Royal Highness and will not be expected to perform Royal Duties. King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden awarded the Nobel Prizes at the annual Ceremony at the Stockholm Concert Hall in Stockholm on December 10th. Afterwards, the Swedish Royal Family attended the glittering Nobel Banquet at the Stockholm City Hall. The Noble Peace Prizes are awarded in Oslo, in a ceremony with the Norwegian Royal Family in attendance. Continue reading
