Queen Margrethe II of Denmark was joined by Crown Prince Frederik and Prince Christian for the official celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Reunification of Denmark in Southern Jutland on June 13th, which was delayed from last year due to the ongoing Pandemic. In 1920, King Christian X ratified the law that incorporated Southern Jutland into Denmark, after a period under German rule for 56 years, and the Royal Family made a symbolic journey to Southern Jutland. Royal Families around Europe have been commemorating the 75th Anniversary of VE (Victory in Europe) Day, marking the end of the Second World War in Europe. Due to the ongoing pandemic, the celebrations are much changed than what was originally planned but still consisted of a variety of commemorations.
Today marks the centenary of the death of Crown Princess Margareta of Sweden, the grandmother of King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden, Queen Margrethe II of Denmark, and Queen Anne Marie of Greece, who tragically died while pregnant with her sixth child. To mark the anniversary, we are taking a look at one of her most iconic jewels, the Khedive of Egypt Tiara.
