Royal Relatives and Godparents gathered from around Europe to celebrate the Christening of Prince Vincent and Princess Josephine of Denmark at the Holmens Kirke in Copenhagen on this day in 2011, 15 years ago. The Twins will have their Confirmation at Fredensborg Palace later this week.
Prince Vincent Frederik Minik Alexander and Princess Josephine Sophia Ivalo Mathilda of Denmark, the twins of then Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary, were christened at the Holmens Kirke in Copenhagen which was followed by a walkabout in the Amalienborg Palace Square.
Prince Vincent’s godparents are King Felipe of Spain, the Prince of Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg, Count Michael Ahlefeldt-Laurvig-Bille, Baroness Helle Reedtz-Thott, John Stuart Donaldson (maternal uncle), and Caroline Heering.
Princess Josephine’s godparents are Princess Marie of Denmark (paternal aunt), Patricia Bailey (maternal aunt), Prince Carlo, Duke of Castro, Count Bendt Wedell, Birgitte Handwerk, and Josephine Rechner.
In addition to Queen Margrethe II and Prince Henrik of Denmark as well as John Donaldson and Susan Moody, guests included Queen Anne-Marie of Greece, Princess Benedikte and Prince Richard of Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg, Prince Nikolaos and Princess Tatiana of Greece, the Duchess of Castro with Princess Maria-Carolina and Princess Maria Chiara of Bourbon-Two Sicilies.
