Royal Guests and Relatives gathered from around Europe to celebrate the Wedding of Princess Marie Immaculata of Liechtenstein and Zurab Dzidziguri in the Peterskirche in Vienna on October 31st.
Princess Marie Immaculata of Liechtenstein, the daughter of Prince Gundakar of Liechtenstein and Princess Marie d’Orléans, married Zurab Dzidziguri, brother of Princess Kristine de Bagration-Mukhrani, in an Orthodox Ceremony at the Peterskirche in Vienna. Princess Kristine wrote:
My brother Zurab and Princess Maria-Immaculata of Liechtenstein got married ❤️
Today, October 31, 2026, in Vienna, the capital of Austria, a solemn wedding ceremony took place at St. Peter’s Church, which was performed according to the Christian Orthodox rite.
“Where your destiny lies, your feet will lead you there.” This Georgian saying seems to describe perfectly the love story that brought together Georgia and one of Europe’s oldest princely dynasties.
The couple’s story began five years ago in Tbilisi. Maria-Immaculata first came to Georgia in 2021. It was in Tbilisi that Zurab and Lata met for the first time. Their acquaintance soon grew into a special friendship and great love.
Information about the couple’s engagement had not been made public until now, which was related to the dynastic rules of the Princely House of Liechtenstein. The marriage was preceded by the relevant formal procedures, including Zurab’s personal meeting with the monarch of Liechtenstein, His Serene Highness Prince Hans-Adam II, who is Princess Maria-Immaculata’s uncle.
For Juan and our family, it was particularly important that, after the completion of all these formal procedures, we introduce Maria-Immaculata to His Holiness, Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia, Shio III.
Lata is a relative of my husband, Juan Bagration-Mukhrani, through the European royal dynasties of the Bourbons, Habsburgs, and Wittelsbachs of Bavaria. She is the daughter of Prince Gundakar of Liechtenstein and Princess Marie d’Orléans, a descendant of the French royal dynasty.
Today’s wedding in Vienna, along with being a celebration of love, also became a symbolic meeting of Georgian and European cultures, traditions, and family values.
I congratulate them with all my heart on the beginning of a new stage of happiness. ❤️❤️❤️✨✨✨🥰🥰🥰
I express my deepest gratitude to everyone, to their friends and our dear guests, for coming to Vienna and for making this most precious day so beautiful.
Princess Marie Immaculata seems to be wearing a magnificent Turquoise and Diamond Peacock Tiara created by Kreuter in Hanau in 1926 for the Princely House of Thurn and Taxis. The Princess’ paternal grandmother was born Princess Clotilde von Thurn und Taxis.
The spectacular Turquoise and Diamond Peacock Tiara was notably worn by Princess Eulalia of Thurn and Taxis soon after her marriage to Prince Philipp Ernst of Thurn and Taxis in 1929. Princess Eulalia was an aunt of Princess Clotilde, making her the great-great-aunt of Princess Marie Immaculata.
Earlier this year, Princess Marie Immaculata’s sister, Princess Leopoldine of Liechtenstein, married Bruno Walter Pedrosa João at the Basílica e Convento do Santíssimo Coração de Jesus in Lisbon.
Three years ago, Princess Marie Immaculata’s brother, Prince Johann-Wenzel of Liechtenstein, married Countess Felicitas von Hartig at the Servitenkirchein Vienna.
