King Michael of Romania’s Funeral

Members of the Romanian Royal Family, Foreign Royalty and Heads of State attended the State Funeral of King Michael of Romania on December 16th. King Michael died in Switzerland on December 5th, at the age of 96. He first became King in 1927, and though he hasn’t been the reigning Head of State since 1947, the Government is giving the late King a State Funeral, in line with the plans to give the Royal Family Official Status in Romania. Wedding of King Constantine of Greece and Princess Anne-Marie of Denmark

Happy 53rd Anniversary to King Constantine and Queen Anne Marie of Greece, who got married on this day in 1964. Princess Anne Marie of Denmark was just 13 when she met the then Crown Prince of Greece. Two years later, the couple had fallen in love and gotten engaged, marrying just weeks after her 18th Birthday and a few months after his accession to the throne. The couple have five children and ruled Greece for only three years before spending over 40 years in exile. Wedding of Prince Joachim and Marie Cavallier

Happy Anniversary to Prince Joachim and Princess Marie of Denmark, who got married on this day in 2008. The second marriage of the Prince, to the French-born Marie, was held at the Møgeltønder Church near Schackenborg Castle (home of Prince Joachim and his family). Not a State Occasion like other royal wedding, it was attended by foreign royals, and had a White Tie dress code. Continue reading
