Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting 2018
The Queen, Head of the Commonwealth, and members of the Royal Family hosted the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) Formal Opening, Reception, and Queen’s Dinner at Buckingham Palace on April 19th. Many expect this to be the Queen’s last CHOGM, as she stopped long-haul travel, and CHOGM is held in a different Commonwealth country every two years. Evolving from the annual Commonwealth Prime Minister’s Conference, the Queen first attended CHOGM in 1973, and despite having no role in the proceedings, the events hosted by the Queen are the highlights of the Meeting. Commonwealth Service at Westminster Abbey 2018
Members of the British Royal Family attended the Commonwealth Service at Westminster Abbey on March 12th, Commonwealth Day. The Queen is the Head of the Commonwealth, and the Commonwealth Service is the largest annual inter-faith gathering in the United Kingdom. Christmas Lunch at Buckingham Palace
The Queen and Duke of Edinburgh hosted their annual Christmas Lunch for members of the extended British Royal Family at Buckingham Palace on December 20th. This lunch is held for those family members who aren’t invited to spend Christmas with the Queen at Sandringham in Norfolk, due to lack of space. Remembrance Sunday 2017
Members of the British Royal Family attended the annual Remembrance Sunday Ceremony at the Cenotaph in Whitehall, London on November 12th. For the first time, the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh viewed the ceremony from a balcony, instead of laying their wreaths at the Cenotaph. Continue reading

Spanish State Visit to Britain
King Felipe and Queen Letizia of Spain are on a 3-day State Visit to Britain, from July 12th to the 14th, on advice from the Spanish Government, to strengthen political, economic, and cultural ties between the two countries. Wedding of the Duke of Gloucester
Happy Anniversary to the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, who got married on this day in 1972. When Prince Richard of Gloucester married Danish Birgitte van Deurs, the couple expected a life out of the spotlight. However, after the deaths of his father and brother soon after their simple country wedding at Barnwell Church, the couple had to step up and take on a large royal role. Today, they remain one of the Queen’s biggest supports, and the most hardworking members of the family. The Duke and Duchess have three children and reside at Kensington Palace. Continue reading

Trooping the Colour 2017
Members of the British Royal family celebrated the Queen’s Official Birthday by attending the annual Trooping the Colour ceremony in London on June 17th. They rode in carriages to inspect the guards at Horse Guards Parade and then watched a flypast on the Balcony of Buckingham Palace. Continue reading
Garden Party at Buckingham Palace
The Queen and Duke of Edinburgh hosted the third and last annual Garden Party of 2017 at Buckingham Palace on June 1st. There are four annual Garden Parties hosted by the Queen at Buckingham Palace and the Palace of Holyrood House for around 30,000 guests yearly, as well as a few special others. Chelsea Flower Show 2017
Queen Elizabeth II, accompanied by the Duke of Edinburgh, and other Members of the Royal Family, attended the RHS Chelsea Flower Show at the Royal Hospital Chelsea on May 22nd. Iraq Afghanistan Service
The British Royal Family attended a Service of Dedication on Horse Guards Parade on March 9th in London. The Queen formally unveiled the new Iraq and Afghanistan Memorial in Victoria Embankment Gardens and the other members of the family attended a reception.
