The Dutch Royal Family hosted King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia of Sweden on their first State Visit to The Netherlands on this day in 1976, 50 years ago, which was followed by the Dutch State Visit to Sweden in 1987, a State Visit to The Netherlands in 2009, and most recently the Dutch State Visit to Sweden in 2022.
King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia of Sweden were received by Queen Juliana and Prince Bernhard of the Netherlands at the Central Station in Amsterdam before a series of Welcome ceremonies outside the Royal Palace of Amsterdam, exactly a year after the visit of his cousin, Queen Margrethe II of Denmark.
In the evening, Queen Juliana and the Dutch Royal Family held a State Banquet for King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia at the Royal Palace of Amsterdam.
Queen Silvia wore the Leuchtenberg Sapphire Parure and the Order of the Netherlands Lion.
Queen Juliana was wearing the Mellerio Ruby Tiara with the Order of the Seraphim.

There was also a Return Banquet held by King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia in honour of Queen Juliana and Prince Bernhard at the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam.
Queen Silvia was wearing Queen Sofia’s Nine-Prong Tiara and the Bernadotte Emerald Parure.
Queen Juliana was in the Dutch Emerald Tiara.
The Dutch Royal Family joined King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia for a visit to the European Space and Technology Center as well as a Paul van Vliet performance at the Royal Theater Carré in Amsterdam
