Royal Holiday in Corfu, 1964

King Constantine II of Greece and his fiancée Princess Anne-Marie of Denmark posed for the Press while on Holiday at the Villa Mon Repos in Corfu on this day in 1964, 60 years ago, two months before their Wedding in September.

King Constantine II and Princess Anne Marie were on Holiday at the Villa Mon Repos, the Greek Royal Summer Residence in Corfu, just months after the King’s Accession to the Greek Throne.

King Constantine wore the Commemorative Badge of the Centenary of the Royal House of Greece.

Princess Anne Marie wore her Aquamarine Pendant inherited from her grandmother, Crown Princess Margareta of Sweden.

  1. This is a beautiful reminder of their youthful selves but was not her mother’s name Queen Ingrid. Perhaps the aquamarine (of what value today!) was inherited from her grandmother Margaret of Connaught, a grand daughter herself of Qu VIctoria. Hersister is Qu Margaretha who with my friend from boarding school were “study buddy’s” at the Sorbonne ca the 1960’s.
