Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene of Monaco attended the gala evening of the 81st General Assembly of the International Council of Military Sport (CISM) in the Grand Hall of Fairmont Monte Carlo on May 7th.

Placed under the High Patronage of H.A.S. the Sovereign Prince, this large-scale international meeting brought together for the first time in the Principality high-ranking military delegations from all over the world.
Founded in 1948, the International Council of Military Sport is the world’s leading military sports organization. CISM today brings together 142 member nations, including Monaco since 2010, and works to promote dialogue, peace and cooperation through sport.
The evening was marked by the awarding of awards to the Prince Couple by Colonel Nilton Gomes Rolim, President of CISM:
Princess Charlene has been raised to the rank of Grand Officer of the Order of Merit of CISM for her constant commitment to sport.
HRH Prince Albert II has been awarded the title of Honorary Member of CISM, becoming the first Head of State to achieve this prestigious distinction.
