The Wedding of the Marquess of Hamilton, the Heir of the 4th Duke and Duchess of Abercorn, and Alexandra ‘Sacha’ Phillips, daughter of Georgina Wernher and Lt.-Col. Harold Phillips (wearing the Abercorn Diamond Floral Tiara), at Westminster Abbey on this day in 1966. The couple had three children; the current Marquess of Hamilton, Lady Sophia Hamilton, and Lord Nicholas Hamilton, succeeding to the Dukedom in 1979, when they moved to the magnificent Baronscourt Estate in Northern Ireland. The Duke and Duchess remained happily married until her death in 2018, after gaining an OBE for her role as the Founder of the Pushkin Prizes and The Pushkin Trust, promoting art therapy for young people.
